Eldohub Launches GovStack Tools to Digitize Counties

Eldohub has embarked on an ambitious initiative to digitize county government services across Kenya, leveraging the expertise of its trained young tech professionals. This effort began with a pilot project in Nandi County in 2022. “From experience, digitization has supported the growth and resilience of businesses in the SME sector, and we realized that it would achieve the same in the public sector. Thus started the drive to digitize service delivery in counties. Eldohub received petitions from 12 county governments to support digitization services, a request that Eldohub seeks to achieve gradually in 2024 and beyond,” said Chepkemoi Magdaline, Eldohub CEO and Founder.

Recognizing the significance of this endeavor, Eldohub partnered with the GIZ GovStack initiative, which provides a framework for digital government services. The GovStack initiative outlines nine key technology “building blocks” that are essential for government digitization, including payments, registries, and identification. These building blocks support a range of digital services from identification cards to vehicle registration, e-waste management, and digital payments. The initiative has been developed with input from over 80 tech experts from more than 40 organizations. For more details, visit [GovStack Building Blocks](https://www.govstack.global/).

Revolutionizing Service Delivery

Through this collaboration, Eldohub will work with county governments to assess their digitization needs, identify willing participants, and map out scalable digital solutions. Eldohub will collaborate with the GovStack team to develop the necessary digital applications as open-source platforms, which can be replicated across multiple counties and potentially other countries in the region. Eldohub’s role also includes deploying fully trained and mentored young tech professionals to customize the building blocks for each county’s specific needs. This approach not only addresses the unique requirements of each county but also creates employment opportunities for young tech professionals. “It is a win-win situation for counties that need digitization services and young tech professionals who need jobs, a twin-pronged innovation that governments in the African region require,” said Charles, the GovStack Officer at Eldohub.

“We are excited about this opportunity because we know what digitization will achieve in counties, particularly the improvement of services to citizens,” said Chepkemoi, Eldohub’s CEO and founder, regarding the upcoming pilot set to begin in 2024.

Eldohub’s initiative aims to revolutionize public service delivery by leveraging digital technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. The digitization of county services is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce corruption, and improve the overall quality of services provided to citizens. The Eldohub GovStack initiative exemplifies the transformative power of technology in public administration, promising significant advancements in how local governments operate and serve their communities. By harnessing digital tools and fostering young tech talent, Eldohub is paving the way for a more connected and efficient public sector in Kenya and beyond.
