Eldoret, Kenya — 30 November to 2 December 2025. Thousands of athletes, innovators, and tech enthusiasts took to the streets of Eldoret today for TechRun 2025, a unique fusion of sports, technology, and innovation hosted by EldoHub in partnership with Athletics Kenya, the UK–Kenya Tech Hub, and the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
Themed “Accelerating Digital Transformation: From Endurance to Excellence,” this year’s edition marked the official start of the three-day summit that brings together athletes, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to explore how endurance and innovation can drive Kenya’s digital future. The event officially flagged off at the TAC Centre Grounds with over 3,000 participants in attendance, including elite runners, youth innovators, and development partners. The streets of Eldoret came alive with the 10KM Elite Race and the 5KM Fun Run, both symbolizing Kenya’s dual identity as the home of champions and a growing hub of technology and innovation.
“A huge credit to EldoHub, in particular to Athletics Kenya, the Government of Uasin Gishu, the Ministry of ICT, the Ministry of Sports, but most importantly, to all the athletes as well as our hero runners, together with us today. I was here last year for the first edition of TechRun, and I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate you for doubling the participation numbers this year. It’s really a phenomenal achievement to see so many athletes pounding the streets of Eldoret — men and women — and at such a pace,” said Dr. Ed Barnett, MBE, British High Commission Nairobi, Charge d’Affaires.
“Athletics Kenya is proud to join forces with EldoHub for TechRun 2025. Eldoret is the home of champions, and combining athletics with digital innovation is a powerful way to inspire excellence. This event not only promotes physical endurance but also accelerates the role of technology in shaping Kenya’s future,” said Barnabas Korir, 1st Vice President, National Olympic Committee (NOCK) and Athletics Kenya. EldoHub CEO Magdaline Chepkemoi noted that this year’s event represents more than just a race; it is a movement merging Kenya’s greatest strengths: endurance, innovation, and community.
“TechRun 2025 is a living example of how we can bridge sectors to create inclusive growth. It’s where athletes, innovators, and investors meet to redefine what endurance means in the digital era,” she said. The event continues over the next two days with the Official TechRun Summit Opening on 1st December, featuring the AI Showcase & Demo Zone, Investor Pitching Sessions, and Digital Innovation Awards Gala on 2nd December.
TechRun 2025 is supported by Safaricom PLC, Coca-Cola Beverages Kenya, the UK–Kenya Tech Hub, University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, World Bank, KIEP, GIZ, Pacis Insurance, and the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
